Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get after processing?

Each job returns downloadable files for the output you selected. Depending on the task, that can include an editable Guitar Tab file, with Guitar and Backing track audio added for full-mix Tab jobs; stem audio packs; DAW-ready MIDI; and PDF score drafts + editable MusicXML.

What audio formats are supported?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A/AAC, OGG, AIFF, and most common formats. If something needs conversion, the app handles it automatically.

How is processing handled?

Jobs run through Music Demixer's secure cloud service to generate your outputs quickly and reliably. You upload once, then download the files for your workflow.

Is there a free plan?

Start with one Free Preview job, including downloads from a representative segment. Buy a 5-job Pack or subscribe to Pro to process more jobs and download full-length results.

Can I convert a full song into guitar tab?

Yes. Choose Separate guitar from a full mix. Music Demixer isolates the guitar, creates an editable guitar tab draft in the tuning you select, and includes the separated Guitar and a Backing track without guitar.

Can I upload a guitar-only recording?

Yes. Choose Just the guitar when the upload is a solo guitar recording or guitar stem. That route uses the audio directly without another separation step.

Can I isolate guitar without creating tab?

Yes. Choose Guitar Isolation and upload a full song. You will receive Guitar and a Backing track without guitar in MP3, Opus, or WAV, with no tab transcription file.

Which guitar tunings are supported?

Choose Standard, Drop D, E-flat Standard, D Standard, Drop C-sharp, or Drop C. Standard E A D G B E is the default. If you know the tuning, selecting it can improve results; if you are not sure, start with Standard.

What files do I download?

Create Guitar Tab always downloads an editable .gp5 file that you can open or import in Guitar Pro, MuseScore Studio, TuxGuitar, Soundslice, GoPlayAlong, or other compatible software. A full-mix Tab job also includes Guitar and Backing track audio; a guitar-only Tab job does not add a duplicate audio file. Guitar Isolation instead downloads only two audio files: Guitar and Backing track.

Will the guitar tab need editing?

Often. Bends, slides, layered guitars, complex chords, fast playing, and effects can require rhythm, fingering, or articulation cleanup after export.

What audio formats can I download?

For a full-mix Tab job or Guitar Isolation, choose MP3, Opus, or 16-bit WAV for both the guitar and backing track. A guitar-only Tab job returns the editable .gp5 without an audio download.

Can I use the output commercially?

Yes, if you own the input audio or have permission or a license that allows your intended use.

Create a Guitar Tab Draft

Choose guitar-only audio or a full mix, confirm the tuning, then download an editable guitar tab draft you can play in compatible software.

Convert Audio to Editable Guitar Tab

Turn MP3, WAV, FLAC, or other supported audio into an editable guitar tab draft. The Beta workflow works with a guitar-only recording, or a full song where Music Demixer separates the guitar before creating the tab.

Guitar-only recording or full mix

  • Just the guitar: use a solo guitar recording or an existing guitar stem. Music Demixer uses that audio directly and returns the editable .gp5 without a duplicate audio download.
  • Separate guitar from a full mix: use a song when you need the guitar isolated first. Download both the guitar and a backing track without guitar as MP3, Opus, or WAV.

Isolate guitar without creating tab

Choose Guitar Isolation when you only want audio from a full song. It returns two aligned files: Guitar and a Backing track without guitar, with no tab transcription step.

Choose a tuning for better results

Standard E A D G B E is selected by default. If you know the tuning used in the recording, choosing it can improve results. Not sure? Leave Standard selected. You can also choose Drop D, E-flat Standard, D Standard, Drop C-sharp, or Drop C.

Download an editable Guitar Tab file

The tab downloads as an editable .gp5 file with strings, frets, and rhythm. Open or import it in Guitar Pro, MuseScore Studio, TuxGuitar, Soundslice, GoPlayAlong, or other software that supports Guitar Pro files. Use it to play the transcription, study the part, or refine the draft.

Beta output, built for editing

Use the AI-generated tab as an editable starting point rather than a perfect transcription. Bends, slides, vibrato, layered guitars, dense chords, fast passages, and heavy effects can need cleanup. Open the tab file in compatible software to adjust rhythm, fingering, strings, frets, and articulations.

Need audio or MIDI instead?

Choose Guitar Isolation here for Guitar and Backing track only. Use All Stems when you also need vocals, drums, bass, piano, or Other. Use audio to MIDI for an editable pitch draft in a DAW, or audio to sheet music for PDF and MusicXML notation drafts.
