Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get after processing?

Each job returns downloadable files for the output you selected. Depending on the task, that can include an editable Guitar Tab file, with Guitar and Backing track audio added for full-mix Tab jobs; stem audio packs; DAW-ready MIDI; and PDF score drafts + editable MusicXML.

What audio formats are supported?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A/AAC, OGG, AIFF, and most common formats. If something needs conversion, the app handles it automatically.

How is processing handled?

Jobs run through Music Demixer's secure cloud service to generate your outputs quickly and reliably. You upload once, then download the files for your workflow.

Is there a free plan?

Start with one Free Preview job, including downloads from a representative segment. Buy a 5-job Pack or subscribe to Pro to process more jobs and download full-length results.

How do I extract MIDI from an MP3?

Upload the MP3, choose the instrument you want as MIDI, and run the job. You download Original Timing MIDI and Beat-Aligned MIDI for that part. WAV, FLAC, M4A, and other common audio formats also work.

Do I need to separate the part from the song first?

No. Choose the instrument from a full song and Music Demixer separates that part before transcription. A stem or solo recording you already have usually gives the cleanest MIDI.

What is the difference between Original Timing and Beat-Aligned MIDI?

Original Timing MIDI follows the performance so it syncs with the recording. Beat-Aligned MIDI is placed on a detected beat grid for editing, looping, and arranging. You can optionally set a Project Tempo from 20 to 320 BPM for the Original Timing file.

Which instruments extract best?

Piano and drums give the most detailed MIDI. Bass, vocals, guitar, and Other return editable note drafts that usually need cleanup after import.

Can I extract MIDI for every instrument in a song?

Yes. Choose Multi-Track to get MIDI for multiple instruments from one upload, along with MusicXML and PDF score drafts.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. Your free preview is one job, and you can download a representative segment up to 30 seconds with no card required. A 5-job Pack or Pro unlocks full-length downloads.

Extract the Part You Want as MIDI

Extract MIDI for one part of a recording: a piano line, a drum groove, a bass line, or a vocal melody.

From a full song or a stem

Upload a full mix and choose the instrument. Music Demixer separates that part before transcription, so you do not need to isolate it yourself first. If you already have a stem or a solo recording, upload it directly for the cleanest result. For every instrument at once, use Multi-Track MIDI.

Ready for your DAW

The download is editable MIDI for Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, GarageBand, Cubase, REAPER, or another DAW. Re-voice the part with another instrument, fix or change notes, or loop a section for practice and arranging.

What to expect by instrument

Piano and drums have the most specialized transcription. Bass, vocals, guitar, and Other return editable note drafts that usually need timing, octave, and overlap cleanup. See MP3 to MIDI for every MIDI option, Audio to MIDI for converting any recording, or Sheet Music for a PDF and MusicXML score.
